Vibe project students visit Monarch Engineering

The students on the OOC Vibe project were excited to be be invited by Monarch engineering to take part in a interactive tour of their site by Luton airport.

The tour started with showing our students the simple things that make up an engineers day from the work shop right the way through to the aircraft. Many of our students have never been on a airplane before and certainly had limited knowledge of just how many employment possibilities are created through Bedfordshire’s largest industry - aviation.

Monarch were wonderful and took their time in not only explaining career paths within their organization but also the options within aviation as a whole. This was a real eye opener for many of our students who’s knowledge of aviation careers were restricted to pilots and cabin crew. To understand that apprenticeships and alternative routes were available so locally can only have been a huge help.
